How To Overcome Fear Of Death

Do you know how to overcome fear of death? Do you believe it is possible to overcome fear of death?

You can overcome fear of death and the possibility is 100%. Below are 5 vital steps to overcome fear of death.

  • Know Who You Are

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." (1 Peter 2:9).

The fear of death is for those who are still in darkness because death and darkness have something in common.

If you know that you are God's people, called out of darkness into God's "marvellous light," you should not be afraid of death.

The reason is because death has been defeated and darkness has nothing to do with light.

You are in the Light of God. You are the light of the world! Know it, believe it and live it.

  • Know Why You Are Here

It is unfortunate that man people in the world, do not know why they are in the world. Therefore, anything can take them unawares at anytime.

King David of Israel was a man with both good and bad experiences as everyone in the world.

Peradventure, he got to a point where the spirit of fear of death approached his dwelling place. But being in the knowledge, David said:

"I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD." (Psalms 118:17).

Did King David not live to declare the works of the LORD? He did!

If you are in the knowledge of why you are here on Earth, you will have a channel of focus with less time to attend to the fear of death.

Get to know why you are still alive and the fear of death will not find space in your life.

  • Remember Who Made You

The knowledge of your Maker is the major key to your freedom from the fear of death.

Brother Jonah said these words in the fish belly.

"The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God." (Jonah 2:5-6).

The man in the fish belly was in the fear of death, until he remembered his Maker. The one who delivered him from the depths of death (corruption) because the time was not due.

Jonah explained further by saying:

"When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple." (Jonah 2:7).

What do you do when it seems life is escaping from you? When the fear of death comes around, who do you remember to call upon?

Is it your husband? Your wife? Your children? Your neighbours? Your friends?

"Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.

Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call. (Psalms 20:7-9).

  • Believe In The One Who Saved You

The main cause of the fear of death is faithlessness in the one who defeated death.

Believing in Christ Jesus is not in may words, it is in response to the finished works of Christ at the cross.

It is a hearty acceptance and dependance on the already finished works.

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness..." (Romans 10:10a).

  • Confess Unto Your Salvation

Having believed with your heart unto a clear conscience and into the victory in Christ Jesus over sin and death, what do you do with your mouth?

Do you please with the fear of death when Jesus already defeated death?

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

Therefore, what do you do with your mouth? You confess your victory!

"... and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10b).

The moment you declare your victory over death, the fear of death departs. Salvation is yours by faith!

The causes of the fear of death may be many, how to overcome the fear of death is simply the implementation of your faith in the finished works of Christ.

Believe in the victory that you have over sin and death: have Faith in Christ Jesus. You are victorious in Him, through Him and with Him.
