He Said God Disappointed Him!

Jeff Hardy who Believed in God finally concluded at the age of 35, "God had disappointed me."

Joseph Bassey, having heard such a confession asked, "Is It True That God Disappointed You?"

In response to my question, Jeff Hardy unfolded his story about how God Disappointed Him.

While sharing, he was in tears but I had to encourage him while listening to him.

How God Disappointed Him

"I had been faithful to God right from my secondary school level. I also engaged in church activities and evangelism even in school.

At the time of my examination, I studied and refused to compromise.

Fortunately, I passed my exams and got admission into the tertiary institution. I studied and finally, I graduated with a second class upper.

At the age of 27, I was already a graduate but till now, 35 with no good job.

I have applied for jobs but I don't know why I was never called upon, not even for an interview.

What surprised me most was the event of yesterday. I got a building contract in one new site. When I went there, I discovered the man who bought that land was Kennedy, my primary school class mate.

Let me tell you, Kennedy was never serious with his studies neither was he interested in the things of God. How come he made it this far?

Honestly, if Kennedy should make it this far and I'm still struggling, it means God has disappointed me.

Infact, God disappointed me long ago after I graduated. If not, He would have given me a good job..."

Well, I had to interrupt him and encourage him with God's word.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

 Did God Disappointed Him?

To Jeff Hardy, God had disappointed him but did God disappoint him?

Mind you, Jeff Hardy was still alive. That means God wasn't done with Him.

The delay in getting a good job wasn't the main issue but the comparison which he made with others he believed were unbelievers and unworthy.

Well, to cut the long story short, God's faithfulness exceeded the murmurings of Jeff and after 2 months from when we met, he was called up for interview and finally employed.

Is It True That God Disappointed You?

When we mate after a year, Jeff Hardy was transformed financial and otherwise. But I was led to ask him a simple question.

Jeff, is it true that God disappointed you?

He stood still, looking at me like one who received a shot from behind. His eyes turned red and tears rolling down his chin.

"Actually," he said, "I thought God had disappointed me. But now I know certainly that God was always with me throughout the process.

God never disappointed me. I disappointed Him instead, but still God showed me His faithfulness."

That's right. The scripture according to 2 Timothy 2:13 says, "If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

With this, I have learned to trust in God no matter the toughness of times.

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6).
