What Is Priesthood?

Generally, the word "Priesthood" is accepted as the office or position of the priests.

Who Is A Priest?
A priest is a mediator between a man and a deity or a divine being ( that is God in this case.)
A priest is also an intercessor for the people. He or she is legalized to speak or plead on behalf of the people.
Difference Between Priesthood Catholic and The Priesthood Of All Believers
The priesthood catholic is a practice after the likeness of the Leviticus priests.
Although the priesthood catholic practices, communicates Christ to the crowd, it at a certain point, deprives the believers of their rightful position in God.
While the first mentioned practice is to a certain; selected set of believers, the priesthood of all believers is not.
The priesthood of all believers as the name implies, reaches a wider range of people.
It consists of all believers in Christ Jesus, a practice of the priesthood in the new testament.
The Revelation Of Priesthood In The New Testament
Before God promised of the kingdom of priests, He had a promise of the coming Messiah. This promise presided with faithful Abraham.
At the point the kingdom of priests came into profession (was promised), there were already existing priests who were active in their offices (the Levites).
The promise of the people beloved of God (now believers in Christ Jesus) as a "kingdom of priests," came into fulfilment in the new testament.
Therefore, the new testament is the revelation and fulfilment of the old testament.
Having known these, take note of "kingdom of priests." It's not referring to some, a certain or a part. Instead, it refers to the whole.

What Is The Priesthood In The New Testament
Having understood this, Peter recorded in 1st Peter 2:9 and 10;
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."
It is worth knowing that the statement is not to a selected group of persons but to all believers.
Furthermore, the priesthood in the new testament is the priesthood of all believers.
The Priesthood in the new testament is the body of Christ (the Church). Each member of the body is a priest with the High Priest (Christ Jesus) as the Head of the body (the Church).
See what Revelation 1:5 and 6 says;
"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
Jesus Christ has made us (the scripture didn't say "some of us," it said US; that is the church; all believers in Christ), Kings and priests unto God.
Therefore, we the believers in Christ Jesus (having received the new birth), are the fulfilment of the promise; the very Kingdom of priests.
God promised it in the old testament and fulfilled it in the new testament by Himself in Christ Jesus (the only begotten of God, and first begotten after death).
Having been made priests by faith in Christ Jesus, are we to return to the former practices or are we to take our rightful position in the body of Christ?
Note: we are to reign on the earth (read Revelation 5:10).
How will we reign if we don't know who we truely are in the one who called us into His marvellous light?
This is where many leaders have failed to educate the flocks under their canopy about (the equality of all believers before God in Christ Jesus).
Prayer Of Salvation

Lord Jesus, I thank you for your word and love towards me. I know I am a sinner who has been deceived by the world and deserves, death. Therefore, I come to you for soul salvation and I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you LORD for saving me in Jesus name.
